Boy and for girl...Awsome!
A combination name with a Flower as the 1st name, a gemstone as the 2nd, a color as 3rd, and a quality as 4th!
Although I think that these combinations may be too much, I would go with:
Lily Sapphire Scarlett Joy
or
Daisy Opal Sienna Faith
and
Heath Garnet Grey Justice
or
Jasper Amethyst Auburn Truth
But I think it might be too much...
What about:

Flower Baby Name Game!?
1. Acacia. The others sound too weird and scientific for me lol, but Acacia kind of sound like Alicia, so I don't think it would be too terrible. Ace would be such a cool nickname.
2. Violet!! Definitely my favorite of all time, and it's so gorgeous and cute. I like Jasmine and Holly too though.
3. Rose... but Dahlia is a very, very close second. Rose is just so classic and beautiful, but Dahlia is unusual and spunky, so it's a hard decision.
4. Angelica. Ivy is cute though too, and so is Genevrier (the only reason I didn't pick that is because it kind of looks hard to pronounce right). Myrtle just sound old and gross to me lol, plus it reminds me Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter lol.
5. Alisier. Ali is super cute, and besides that, I really don't like any of the other ones lol except for possibly Reseda (nn Reese). Teasel has tease right in her name!
6. Laurel! Gorgeous name, and Laurie would be too cute. It's also really nice as an alternative to the really popular Lauren.
7. Juniper. Junie is so cute, and it's such a fresh and pretty name. Fuchsia would be cute too though.
8. Jessamine!! Really pretty alternative to Jessica.
9. Bryony! It sounds so pretty and British to me. lol though now I don't know if I'd use it, after reading and seeing Atonement. The Briony there was such a ***** haahha.
10. Poppy! Cute, spunky and just awesome. I'd like it better maybe as a nickname though for something like Penelope.

Does any one know something about the flower named...Euphorbia?
I think it is also called Crown of Thorns
Does any one know something about the flower named...Euphorbia?
Euphorbia milii is a slow-growing, ferociously thorny,semi-succulent shrub with bright green leaves. It is native to Madagascar.
Deciduous in cooler areas, it tolerates dry conditions and grows to a height of about 3'. It is excellent in frost-free rock gardens or sunny courtyards and is often used as a low hedge in coastal areas. Culture:Sun or part shade; in moist, well-drained soil;Cold hardiness varies depending on the species, the more highly succulent species are generally frost tender.Propagate from cuttings in spring or summer, allowing succulent species to dry and callus before placing in barely damp sand, by division in early spring or fall, or from seed in fall or spring.
Reply:Spurges (genus Euphorbia) are a very large and variable worldwide plant taxon, belonging to the spurge family, or Euphorbiaceae.
Origin of the name
The common name spurge derives from the Middle English / Old French: espurge, to purge, due to the use of the plants sap as purgative.
The botanical name Euphorbia derives from the Greek Euphorbus, physician of king Juba II of Numidia (52-50 BC - 23 AD), in whose honour 鈥?or in allusion to his swollen belly 鈥?a certain plant he might have used (Euphorbia resinifera?) was named. In 1753 Linnaeus assigned the name to the entire genus (Spec. Pl. (ed. 1): 450). Type species is Euphorbia antiquorum
Description
The genus ranges from small trees, shrubs, vines to herbaceous plants. A significant percentage of these are succulent plant, some of which remarkably resemble cacti despite being unrelated, an example of convergent evolution. To the exception of a few species (i.e. Euphorbia hedytoides or Euphorbia curtisii), this genus is composed of monoecious species.
Spurges have a highly specialized inflorescence: the cyathium, which are reduced unisexual flowers grouped into characteristic pseudanthia. It consists of a central pistillate flower surrounded by five groups of staminate flowers. All flowers are enclosed within an involucre with four marginal glands. The central flower develops before the surrounding male ones, thus each cyathium functions like a protogynous hermaphrodite flower. The glands of the cyathium usually produce nectar, and pollination is mainly zoophilous. Indeed, the cyathium looks so much like a hermaphrodite flower that Carolus Linnaeus and other authors interpreted it as a true flower. Jean-Baptiste Lamarck however interpreted the cyathium as an inflorescence and this is now recognized.
Spurges contain an acrid, poisonous milky latex, and some of them are armed with thorns. Most of the spurges yield powerful emetic and cathartic products.
Euphorbia species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Giant Leopard Moth.
Distribution
The genus is primarily found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and the Americas, but also in temperate zones worldwide. Succulent species are mostly originated from Africa, the Americas and Madagascar.
Taxonomy
The genus Euphorbia is one of the largest and most complex genera of flowering plants and several botanists have made unsuccessfully attempts to subdivide the genus into numerous smaller genera. Now according to recent DNA studies Euphorbia can be divided into 6 subgenera, each containing several not yet sufficiently studied sections and groups...

Name of a wild flower found at the base of Snowdon. Single stem with white feather like flower.?
Right two choices. One use the link or two since there's ny a photo I'll take a quess and say Eidleweiss.
Name of a wild flower found at the base of Snowdon. Single stem with white feather like flower.?
I would really love to know a little more because I'm a botany student.
I need to see a picture could you modify your question to include:
Stem - "hair" no hairs?
Leaves - single triple, round or pointy?: linear or branched veins
Blossom - fused Pistil? number of petals: types/number of
stamens, etc
There is so much more that is required in order to determine the exact type of plant and then sometimes plants that "look" alike can have different DNA.
I hope you give us a picture and a little info about the area. For instance is it riparian or alpine and is it in North Wales?
Is it like the ones on this link: onehttp://www.srgc.org.uk/discus/messages/2...
Reply:There are many snowdrops at the base of Snowdon. These elegant yet small flowers bloom in spring, fighting their way through difficult and rocky soils to show their pure and perfect form for many weeks.
Reply:Sounds like a cotton grass (Eriophorum vaginatum). This is common in boggy ground. Certainly not Edelweiss, which is not native to Britain.
Reply:I'm pretty sure it's a snowdrop
they are beautiful flowers

Help, I can't remember the name of this flower!?
They grew in my back yard when I was little. They have a really long stem, maybe a couple feet long, and when they bloomed they were blooms were bright purple orbs. There weren't a lot of them, seems like only two or three of them popped up, and they were there every year. Please help.

They sound like alliums, although there are numerous varieties available. Try 'allium' in Yahoo or google images, there's a wonderful array there and it may just take you back to your childhood. Allium is latin for garlic and they come from the same family as leeks, onions and garlic. x

What is the latin name of the magnolia flower?
Magnolia is a large genus of about 210 species in the subfamily Magnolioideae of the family Magnoliaceae. You need to tell us which species you are referring to before we can give you an answer.
In 1703 Charles Plumier described a flowering tree from the island of Martinique in his Genera. He gave the species, that was locally known as 'Talauma', the genus name Magnolia, after Pierre Magnol. The English botanist William Sherard, who studied botany in Paris under Joseph Pitton de Tournefort, a pupil of Magnol, was most probably the first after Plumier to adopt the genus name Magnolia. He was at least responsible for the taxonomic part of Dillenius's Hortus Elthamensis and of Catesby's famous Natural history of Carolina. These were the first works after Plumier's Genera that used the name Magnolia, this time for some species of flowering trees from temperate North America.
Linnaeus, who was familiar with Plumier's Genera, adopted the genus name Magnolia in 1735 in his first edition of Systema naturae, without a description but with a reference to Plumier's work. In 1753, he took up Plumier's Magnolia in the first edition of Species plantarum. As Linnaeus did never see a herbarium specimen (if there has ever been one) of Plumier's Magnolia and had only his description and a rather poor picture at hand, he must have taken it for the same plant as Catesby described in 1731 in his Natural history of Carolina and placed it in the synonymy of Magnolia virginiana var. foetida, the taxon now known as Magnolia grandiflora.
The species that Plumier originally named Magnolia was later described as Annona dodecapetala by Lamarck, and has since been named Magnolia plumieri and Talauma plumieri (and still a number of other names) but is now known as Magnolia dodecapetala.

Reply:Magnolia virginiana
Reply:Magnolia it self is THE Latin name of the flower in question.
The generic name,Magnolia is derived from the name of a botanist.
There are about 210 species of Magnolia which belongs to Angiosperm family Magnoliaceae.
These trees are found in tropical and temperate countries.
Magnolia grandiflora is perhaps the best known amongst them. As the name implies , it has large flowers white in colour and sweetly scented.
As a rule Magnolia flowers are large and attractive.
Now , which Magnolia (out of 210) have you in mind?

Do you know the name of this blue flower?
I can't find a pic of it anywhere but it is almost a teal colour. Its shape is similar to a Bird of Paradise, I think but it is much smaller. I thought it might be a type of tropical flower that is dyed blue but I am not sure... all I know that it is a much different blue than most 'blue' flowers like hydrangeas, etc. Names and/or links to pictures would be greatly appreciated as I am using a dark teal as one of my wedding flowers and I thought it might look good for the boutonnieres.

Reply:Hhmm... Look in a flower book. Or, whatever those books that tell types of flowers.

So just google *STATE* wildflowers and you might get some good hits.
Reply:There are many wildflower books. Some cover a specific locality, while others cover a specific habitat, like woodland, prairie, wetland, etc. Without knowing more about the flower or where you found it, it is hard to be more specific. How to get details of a flower for herberium file if i know its hindi name?
first check whether the hindi name is unambiguous for that flower. refer books or websites of companies that manufacture herbal medicines or try in websites through google. give the hindi name and you can get the botanical name. once you have botanical name, finding out the details from the web is easy,if you can refer A.C. Dutta or compedium of Indian Medicinal plants, you can get the details for ur herbarium.

Flower shop name?

Flower shop name?
The naming of your business could be one of the most important decisions you will make. A name's originality and legal availability will create a real asset value of its own, as it becomes marketed and gains market acceptance.
The name you choose will become the focal point of all the benefits and features that relate to your business. Customers will be able to find and refer others to it in the future.
Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route...
I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a "name party" %26amp; have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.
I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what's out there.
Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free %26amp; a great place to start, so I'd try them out first.
Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending %26amp; registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.
There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I'm not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You'll also want to check domain names %26amp; yellow pages, so simply do a search for "free domain name search" and "national yellowpages" and the appropriate links will pop up.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success %26amp; happiness in all your ventures!

Are you able to find the name of a flower or a plant for each letter of the alphabet?
For example: A = aspidistra, ... and so on?
Thank you
Are you able to find the name of a flower or a plant for each letter of the alphabet?
There are all sorts of combinations possible due to the fact that there are so many flowers or plants. Most plants have an original name and often also have a common name that has been adopted in English like "Buttercup","Lady's Mantle","Harebell", "Umbrella Plant","Busy Lizzie","Meadowsweet", "Red Hot Poker", "Lily of the Valley", "Solomon's Seal" and so on....
These charming names vary from country to country.
Here is the list that came to my mind from plants and flowers I have had contact with. I tried to avoid those already given by others above:
Anemone
Bergenia
Campanula
Delphinium
Epimidium
Freezia
Gentiana
Hellebore
Impatiens

What is the name of the process when a pollen tube is formed down to a female egg in a flower?
The process is germination(yes the word germination is also used when a seed sprouts in the soil).
In a pollen grain, there were two cells, the generative cell and the tube cell. When the pollen grain lands on the pistil of a compatible flower, the generative cell undergoes mitosis to form two sperm cells while the tube cell germinates and forms the pollen tube down to the female egg.
What is the name of the process when a pollen tube is formed down to a female egg in a flower?
pollination
Reply:a pistil
Reply:hehe, not a pistil- that's the actual part of the plant. I am not sure I have ever come across that term other than referring to it as part of the fertilization process. I suppose that since we would possibly call sexual intercourse "part of the process" this still counts, just slightly removed. This is similar in that the plants male (pollen grain) and female (stigma) bits get together and the actual pollen tube forming part is just how the gametes come together...
I hope that was somewhat helpful

Wich is the flower named Mimosa?
I read in "to kill a mockingbird" that is a flower that smells so good
Wich is the flower named Mimosa?
My guess is that Harper was referring to the Mimosa tree that has sweet flowers. But everyone was kind of right, read on for more information than you wanted. :)
The photo that foolnomore linked to is that of a mimosa tree: Albizia julibrissin (Silk Tree). It has fragrant pink flowers. Planted as a landscape tree. It's leaves close at night. The tree is usually called Mimosa in the United States, which is misleading because, although once included in Mimosa and related to it, it is no longer classified in that genus. (To add to the confusion, several species of Acacia, notably Acacia baileyana and Acacia dealbata, are also known as "mimosa", especially in floristry).
Link 1 %26amp; 3.
There is a catclaw mimosa with sensitive leaves that is widespread through the tropics, but considered a noxious weed in the US and killed. Link 2.
There is the Sensitive briar that has a pink flower. Picture link 5.
Yellow Mimosa is in the genus Acacia, the flowers are yellow, white, cream and red. There are over 1300 species in this genus. Link 4.
Mimosa is a genus of about 400 species of herbs and shrubs, in the subfamily Mimosoideae of the legume family Fabaceae, with evenly bipinnate leaves. Link 5.
