Is Briar Rose a flower, or is it just a name?

And if it is a flower, does it have special meaning?

Is Briar Rose a flower, or is it just a name?
This is one common name for the Rosa rubiginosa also called Sweetbriar or Eglantine rose.

Briar is also sometimes used for the dog rose Rosa canina a rambling rose with thin, pliant canes.

Reply:The Briar Rose is an actual flower. It is also called the Sweet Briar, and it has an unusual property. The foliage emits a strong apple-like odour, which is especially pronounced after rain.
Reply:According to the site below, it looks like it's just a name. I looked all around and couldn't find an actual flower with that name.
